Product Overview

His temper was vile. By the standards of the time, however, he was by no means cruel or vicious. Cook, with whom Bligh sailed before getting his own command, had a rampaging temper, too, but he provoked no mutiny.

Bligh provoked mutiny in one form or another right throughout his career. Too often, perhaps, he allowed his unswerving sense of duty to overide all else.

The authors here have presented Bligh in all his colours, from his earliest days at sea to his governorship of New South Wales, trusting to no one source or account, but rather looking for the rounded picture to shape the man and make him live again....

This book contains an interesting selection of pictures in colour and black and white, gathered from muesums all over the world.
