Product Overview

Russell Braddon was sent to fight in the Malayan campaign as a member of the 8th Division. After only a few months of action, the Australians were captured and thrown into a life of demoralising suffering...

Men dying like flies, or surviving in sub-human conditions at the mercy of their Japanese captors.

Russell Braddon was one of the few who survived both Pudu and the infamous Changi prison camps. A realist, with a fine cynical wit, he could yet say "the longer one lived, the greater number of generous people one met".

This book, often shattering in impact, gives insight into the will of man to survive, to find hope and even humour in a seemingly unendurable world.
