Spring 2007
Spring is upon us again already. The blossoms are starting to appear and the leaves are bursting out everywhere. Thank heavens we’ve finally had some rain so at least there will be some grass around coming into summer.
There are some great new arrivals in this newsletter. If you’re a racing fan “12 Greatest Ever Grand Nationals is an absolute must. Of course I knew what the Grand National was, but I’ve never seen an actual race run, and what an eyeopener…how on earth did Velvet Brown and the Pye ever make it around? Out of the 40+ horses that start, less than a dozen finish most years (often less) with many trainers and jockeys dreaming about just finishing the race once. Amazing horses, amazing race and amazing viewing! I’m sure to run out of this quickly but have ordered more from England so you shouldn’t have to wait too long.
Books for the littlies...
I’ve gone out of my way to find more books for the littlies just starting to read on their own as there seemed to a bit of a gap in the section. “Naughty Norton” is fantastic for this age group, very sweet, fun illustrations and some helpful tips in the back.
There are more books coming in this series, so keep your eye open for them.
More Adult Novels...
I’ve also spent a lot of time sourcing moreadult novels as they are in such demand. It’s very hard for me to know just how horsy some of them are, because I’m only ordering from a database and often the descriptions are sketchy at best.
I am getting excellent feed-back about the Lyndon Stacey novels, the “Horse Lover’s Murders” books and “Reckless Love” by Elizabeth Lowell in the romance section.
For the Lyndon Stacey fans, there will be a new release due in October called “Murder In Mind” just in time for Christmas.
Exciting news...
One of the most exciting pieces of news I’ve had in ages is that the complete first series of “Follyfoot” is on it’s way from England. Many thanks to Debbie Black for letting me know it’s now available. The price will be $39.95 for the box set, so pre-order it now and I’ll get it out to you the moment it arrives.
Start singing the famous “Lightning Tree” song now to get yourself gee’d up.
Grow, grow, the lightning tree, It’s never too late for you and me; Grow, grow, the lightning tree, Never give in too easily.
New Releases...
The other new release available in early October is “American Black Beauty” in DVD. It’s not your traditional Black Beauty story, but still really good family fun and well worth adding to your collection.
There is also a new computer game which will be available in time for Christmas called “My Horse and Me” which will be available in Nintendo DS, Nintendo, Wii and PC. I don’t have much information on it yet, but it’s been written with the new technologies in mind, so should be pretty flash. I’ll let you know as soon as I find out more.
Available now at Equitainment is the new Wii Game G1 Jockey ..." a horse racing experience that brings you closer to the real thing than ever before."
A Quick Word About Security.
A quick word about security. There’s been a lot of horror stories in the media lately about the safety in giving out your details, so I thought it best to remind you of my policies. Your credit card details are not stored anywhere in the computer including in the website, so in the very unlikely event that the site was hacked, there is absolutely nothing for them to find. If something goes wrong and I loose the initial order, then even I can’t retrieve the payment details from the system, so there is no way anyone else could either. If you’re a mail-order customer, then again the details are not stored in the computer, but kept under lock and key in a Chubb safe, but the crookies would have to get through alarms and surveillance first to even get that far.
And please rest assured that I would NEVER give your mailing details or phone number to anyone. While I’m personally quite a fan of junk mail (I love finding catalogues in the letterbox) the tele marketers nearly drive me insane, and I wouldn’t inflict that on anyone. NO, NO, NO, NO … I do not want to change my phone carrier to some dodgy off-shore set-up in India!
