2009 Australia Day Promotion
Hi Everyone, To help get everyone in a patriotic Australia Day mood, this newsletter is based entirely on all things Aussie. I've really enjoyed putting it together and I hope you find it interesting as well.
For a limited time only I've included some classic Australian movies and TV series, even though they aren't particularly horsey (OK...some are not horsey at all) but they are all classics and not always easy to find.
Some of them are my own all-time Australian favourite films so I thought you might be interested in seeimg them as well. I had such crushes on both Mel Gibson and Mark Lee when Gallipoli was first released, and still love it today.
For a Limited Time DVDs - Gallipoli The Thorn Birds We of the Never Never Dad & Dave - On Our Selection Three in one pack of The Sum of Us/Sunday Too Far Away/The Shiralee 1915 The Celluloid Heroes a documentary on the Australian film industry a must have for all fans and collectors of Australian Films
You will find all these in the Latest Additions on the front of the Website. Jody xxxx www.equitainment.com.au
New Movie in Production - The Cup
In industry news, a new Australian film is currently in development about the great victory Damian Oliver had riding Media Puzzle in the 2002 Melbourne Cup, after overcoming the tragic death of his brother in a racing accident.
It's been written and directed by one of Australia's great directors, Simon Wincer. A passionate horseman himself, Simon has also directed or produced many other horse-related movies amongst his huge portfolio of work including - Man From Snowy River (Producer), Phar Lap (Director), The Lighthorsemen (Director & Producer), The Young Black Stallion (Director), Bluegrass (Director) and Flash (Director) and that's just to name a few!
Filming was carried out at last year's Melbourne Cup as well as other locations in Sydney, Perth, Ireland and Dubai and should hit the big screens during this year's Spring Racing Carnival.
New books from the ANZAC Day Commomorative Committee.
I was lucky enough to find some books published by the ANZAC Day Commemorative Committee that I think are fantastic. As soon as I got them in, Teresa couldnt help herself to order a few, she is bad.
The children's books are factual and a darn good read, plus there is the added bonus of some really lovely artwork as well.
The hardcover book (HB) on the Australian Lighthorse - 'A Thousand Miles of Battles' is a special, limited edition and one I'm sure many people will enjoy reading. It's easy to read and packed with both photos and artwork. It went straight home for my collection and it's one I'm sure you will want to keep forever as well.

So Much More...
I dont want to make this email too large to download for anyone, there are just so much more, that I will lightly touch on some.
We havent forgotten the audio fans, 'The Great Melbourne Cup Mystery' by Arthur W Upfield is now on CD and unabridged. The Waddi Tree by Kerry Mcginnis is in CD format over 12 hours of listening to the unabridged version and Robbery Under Arms in CD read by John Stanton is a beauty. It is so hard getting a copy of any Elyne Mitchell 's books that I am lucky to have found some on Audio.
There are some new books in the non fiction section such as 'I Once Met a Man' by R.M. Williams 'Outback Heroes' by Evan McHugh 'Pieces of Blue' & 'Heart Country' by Kerry McGinnis
In Fiction there is 'The Waddi Tree by Kerry McGinnis 'Jillaroo', 'The Stockman' & 'The Rouseabout' by Rachael Treasure.
If you want to find the lastest books always check the Latest Additions because it gets updated weekly or more often on a daily basis. In the USED section you will find first Australian Editions and great Aussie books that are hard to find, but be quick as more often than not, as soon as the books go up online the next day someone has bought it.
Finally, thank you to the many people who contacted me to see how my horse Chief, is doing after his illness. I can happily say that I rode him for about 2 weeks in November (before I got too busy packing books for Christmas) and he seemed absolutely fine. So hopefully he will be back in work with Andrew Inglis by the end of the month and continue on the show-jumping career.
